UT Tuition Hike

In the Nov. 5 article, "Faulkner unveils UT tuition increase plan," the situation is unclear as to why the tuition at the University of Texas needs to be raised 32 percent. As a high school student and a possible future UT student, I think the plan will affect the enrollment at UT in the long run.

UT offers an outstanding education to students, including those who cannot afford to attend private schools. With the increase, a university degree might become out-of-reach for many students. If the tuition needs to be increased, it should occur over a longer period of time. UT should consider the situation of all young adults looking for an education.
