Texan confirmed for Education post

The U.S. Senate on Friday confirmed Tom Luce as assistant secretary for the office of planning, evaluation and policy development at the U.S. Department of Education. There, he will focus on developing education policy, including implementation of the administration's education reform law, No Child Left Behind. Luce is chairman of Just for the Kids, a Texas nonprofit organization he created in 1995 to help educators and the public collaborate to improve education. He also served as chairman of the Austin-based National Center for Educational Accountability, a joint venture of the Education Commission of the States, the University of Texas and Just for the Kids.
