Austin financial adviser named to UTIMCO board

Craig Hester, founder of Austin's Hester Capital Management LLC, has been named to the board of directors for the University of Texas Investment Management Co.

The UT graduate is a chartered financial analyst and certified investment counselor. He is past president of the Austin Investment Association and past president of the Austin and San Antonio Societies of Financial Analysts.

Hester's appointment was approved Thursday by the UT Board of Regents. His term will expire in April 2006.

Also named to the UTIMCO board was J. Philip Ferguson, senior investment officer of AIM Capital Management Inc. in Austin.

Hester and Ferguson replace John McStay and Lowry Mays, whose terms expired.

UTIMCO, a nonprofit governed by a nine-member board, oversees investments under the umbrella of the UT System. It invests endowment and operating funds exceeding $14 billion.
