A burnt orange offering from mall developer Simon
Forget the green. Slip in some orange.
Simon Property Group Inc. will begin test marketing its University of Texas gift card at Barton Creek Square in mid-September. It will be the country's first co-branded gift card program.
"We're excited to partner with such a prominent institution as UT-Austin, the largest university in the country, and one known for its loyal alumni, students and supporters," said Stewart Stockdale, chief marketing officer of Simon Property Group and president of Simon Brand Ventures. "This partnership is reflective of Simon's significant presence in Austin and will further grow our already successful gift card program."
The Simon gift card, rolled out at 160 Simon malls, has become the nation's largest Visa gift card program since it was launched in Austin in 2001 at Barton Creek Square. The cards come in amounts from $20 to $500. Part of the $2.50 handling fee for the Longhorn gift card will be used to support activities at UT.
The cards can be used at any Simon shopping center in any store that accepts Visa.
