Bryce Reply to Freeport Threat

13 December, 1995

Mr. Thomas J. Egan,
Senior Vice President and
Senior Administrative Deputy
to the Office of the Chairman,
Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold,
1615 Poydras Street,
New Orleans, Louisiana 70151

RE: Your letter of Dec. 6 and our phone conversation of Dec. 11.

Sir:

Since you hung up on me before we could finish our conversation on Monday, I felt I should follow up on our discussion.

I will continue reporting on Freeport, the company's relationship with UT and the company's Indonesian operations. Before I publish any stories that require your input, I will be calling either you or Mr. Probst for a comment. If you choose not to comment that is your prerogative.

In the meantime, if you believe there are any factual errors in the stories I have written, please let me know precisely what those errors are.

Also, I received your videotape of Bishop Munninghoff. Please send me at your earliest convenience, the entire unedited version of the interview.

Sincerely,
Robert Bryce, Contributing Editor
