This page contains information about the mission and editorial policy of (sub)TEX.
Mission Statement
(sub)TEX is an independent newspaper published by the (sub)TEX Collective. The Collective is a non-profit group that uses the newspaper and other projects to provide a forum for critical debate on political, cultural, social and economic issues. The initiatives of (sub)TEX aim at resisting oppression based on class, gender, race and sexual orientation. (sub)TEX attempts to dismantle boundaries between institutions, communities and identities, and assists activist efforts to challenge these boundaries.
Submissions and Editorial Policy
(sub)TEX encourages submissions that promote courses in intellectual self-defense and creative self expression. Submitted articles, letters, event listings, news releases, and organizational notes should be formatted on Microsoft Word or Text-only for Macintosh. Articles can also be submitted through e-mail as text-only documents. Shorter articles and reviews, between 500 and 1000 words, are more likely to be published. Long articles should not exceed 1500. Original photos and graphics should be accompanied by captions, credits and dates. All submissions should be accompanied by a brief bio of the author and the author's name, address, telephone number and, if possible, internet address. Only submissions that include a self-addressed stamped envelope will be returned. (sub)TEX accepts articles that have been previously published, and strongly encourages the reproduction of material printed in these pages. The material printed does not necessarily reflect the views of the entire Collective.
